It’s a safe community with a number of amenities, entertainment venues, and great schools.   Mena is also a great place to retire. There’s a number of civic/community organizations to volunteer with, a community college that offers classes specifically for 60+, a superb medical community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. Rich Mountain Community College  Founded in 1983, Rich Mountain Community College is a comprehensive, learning-centered community college of approximately 1000 students providing a broad range of programs, services, and learning opportunities to its students and citizens in its service area. Those programs and opportunities include: transfer and technical degrees and courses; professional, workforce, and personal development; Adult Basic Education; English as a Second Language; GED; student support and outreach programs; and financial aid including grants and scholarships (federal, state, and local). In addition to the main campus in Mena, RMCC maintains a permanent off-campus site in Waldron, approximately 30 miles north of Mena.

Mena Regional Health System
Mena Regional Health System is a 65-bed community hospital providing care to the communities of Mena, Polk County, and the surrounding counties in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.  The Hospital offers a diverse compliment of inpatient, outpatient, and home health services to the community. Hospital inpatient services include acute care medical/surgical services, a 6-bed ICU, labor and delivery services, a 12-bed geriatric psychiatry unit (Mena Medical Senior Behavioral Health Center), and a 12 bed acute care physical rehabilitation unit (Mena Medical Rehabilitation Center). 
The Medical Staff consists of 24 physicians, including specialists in OB/GYN, Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, and Physiatry. Mena VA Clinic
The Mena VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic provides primary care to Mena and the surrounding communities.  Services beyond primary care include x-ray, lab and social work.  Located at Hwy 71 North and open Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm.  Call 479-394-4800 for more information.
